Competition 1st Prize
Built on behalf of the CODHA housing cooperative, Sonnex 36 was, at the time of its construction, the largest Minergie P-Eco building in the Canton of Geneva. It also stands out for the involvement of residents in its design, which gives it a strong human dimension.
The building offers 36 HM-LUP housing units benefiting from surface rights granted by the State for social housing and offers no fewer than 13 different types of units, including duplexes and simplexes, served by an internal street on all levels. Connected by a transparent stairwell, these circulation areas create many opportunities for interaction.
The participation of future residents was decisive in the design of the common areas and interior fittings. This cooperation resulted in an 80m² room, available to all, overlooking the outdoor garden and equipped with a kitchen, workshop-guest rooms on the upper floors and large, convivial laundry rooms, encouraging exchanges and encounters between neighbours.
