Since its construction in 1858, the Music Conservatory has undergone a number of transformations and extensions that have significantly altered its original architectural rigor.
The project’s aim is to deliver a renovated and expanded building that meets the needs of its users—students, teachers, and audiences—as well as current safety and energy standards, while enhancing the heritage value of a listed building.
More than 1,000 square meters have been created on the lower ground floor, including 16 music rooms lit by skylights, a theatre hall, and various technical spaces. Special attention has been paid to the original architectural qualities—natural light, fluid circulation, harmony of proportions—as well as to the restoration of façade elements from various historical periods.
In close collaboration with the Heritage and Monuments Office, exploratory surveys and historical research have made it possible to reconstruct the original decorative features.
