Competition – 1st Prize
Located on the edge of a forest in the Geneva countryside, the Clair-Vivre house has been welcoming children since 1942. In 2013, the house underwent rehabilitation and adaptation to meet current needs.
The proximity of woods and fields largely guided the project. Volumes and materials were chosen to integrate delicately into this idyllic setting. Through the use of wood and pitched roofs, the buildings resemble cabins. The oak cladding (on both façade and roof), a natural and recycled material, harmonizes with the surrounding context.
The central house was preserved, transformed, and its façades insulated. Two new buildings were added: the first, to the west, contains service spaces (office, kitchen, pantry, reception room, sanitary facilities, and drying room). To the east, the second building houses the dormitories. Flexible spaces are provided to accommodate groups of varying sizes each adaptable according to needs.
